IN THIS AGE of evidence-based management and evidencebased nursing, I was delighted to learn from neuroanatomist and author, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, what happens when a massive stroke occurs in the left side of the brain.

Leadership and Artful Persuasion
After an historic victory, President Obama has already demonstrated how effective leadership and artful persuasion can win the day. For nurse executives and nurse managers, presidential lessons in persuasion can prove fruitful. In times of crisis and fear, leaders need to maintain a compelling image of strength to be effective. Now, with the recession touching health care organizations and nurses’ lives more directly, it’s time for decisive action, and nurses have an integral role in fixing the economics of health care.
